I know, I should have been more prepared for yesterday, but some days you live on the struggle bus (me more than others, I am guessing) and you just throw in the towel and try again another day. Anyways… yesterday was the official celebration (if you might) of me starting this blogging endeavor. Now, I didn’t open this page until much later… I started on Facebook posting simple LOTD’s and a photo. Anyways, below is what I posted on Facebook last night so I will share it here too in case you missed it.
Imma take a little trip here… Today marks my 3 years of blogging. I started by posting simple LOTD’s on Facebook (see first post below) and who would have known what was to come. No one. Not even me. I spent seven years prior to this shopping and for the most part, going no where with the clothes. So, what was a girl to do? I took a passion for taking photos and my excitement of purchasing new things and combining the two to get here today. Over the past three years, I have had the honor and pleasure of working closely with other designers, other bloggers and most importantly, family. Because lord knows, if some people didn’t push me to just “try,” I know I wouldn’t be here at all. I’ve had the absolute pleasure of getting to know more people all over this world that I wouldn’t have before because of this. I can’t even imagine how that would be different without blogging.
Now, if I was asked to give some sort of advice to new people starting out or those who want to give up? Here you go. Do this because you love it, but most importantly, do it for YOU. Don’t do it for anyone else. You are a brand just as much as the brand you are featuring in a photo. Your actions will speak volumes. Your talent is endless when your heart is in the right place. Don’t try to scam people… they’ve seen it all and there is no one worth taking for granted. Because when you do, you will pay. Don’t be discouraged when someone tells you no. I realize the word “rejected” is (possibly) harsh… but don’t be afraid to ask for feedback. What can I do differently for the future.. do you have advice for me? Ask questions. Work to better yourself. And really, if someone tells you no… it isn’t the end of the world. You do you, baby, and everything will fall into place when it’s supposed to.
In the end, unless something insane happens and I cannot be around in SL anymore… I’ll be blogging here until the end. I’m honored to have the sponsors and support that I have, but if that all fell apart, nothing is going to stop me from shopping in SL. Nothing.
